Distribution of Fertilizer for the 2022 Farming Season.
2022 Annual Free Medical Outreach, Award of Scholarships, Welfare Empowerment, and Refreshment, at Umuekpe Ntigha Civic Hall, Umuekpe Ntigha...
1.2. PREAMBLE
The year 2022 was remarkable as it tested the survival of JNOF and the sustainability of its programs amidst the challenging economic recession with untoward hardship that affected our rural and indigent populace. The Foundation to address food insecurity provided fertilizer relief to the widows amongst her primary constituents in the mid-year during the farming season. This was an addition to the annual event again held at the Umuekpe Ntigha Civic Hall on the 21st of December 2022. This event featured traditional medical outreach, the award of scholarships (for the 2022/23 academic session of tertiary institutions), and social welfare empowerment (distribution of heads of wrapper) to the widows in the Umuekpe Ntigha Autonomous Community.
1.3. DISTRIBUTION OF 40 BAGS OF FERTILIZER TO SUPPORT FARMING
JNOF on the 12th of June 2022 provided 40 bags of fertilizer to support the widows in Umuekpe Ntigha Autonomous Community women for the 2022 farming season. This was distributed one bag to each of the 32 widows in the community. The remaining was distributed one each to the woman leader of the community and the other seven women stakeholders in the community.
1.4. 2022 ANNUAL FREE MEDICAL OUTREACH, AWARD OF SCHOLARSHIPS, AND GIFTING OF SOCIAL WELFARE ITEMS.
2022 ANNUAL FREE MEDICAL OUTREACH: Just as anticipated and contained with expansion of manpower; drugs including primary eye care drugs and glasses; and point of care test kits, the population of the beneficiaries more than doubled. A total of about 2,000 persons benefited from the 2022 medical outreach. It was indeed another gratifying healthcare carnival for the beneficiaries who had their numbers checked, primary basic lab done, doctors consultation accessed at no cost and their doorstep, and sufficient drugs given to them according to the doctors’ prescription.
AWARD OF SCHOLARSHIPS FOR THE 2022/23 ACADEMIC SESSION: This year witnessed the successful graduation of three of the recipients of the maiden 2021 JNOF scholarships award; Nwachukwu Victoria Nkechi, Chigbu Judith Chinweotito, and Nwogu Christian. While one other recipient has commenced her one-year mandatory Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES). There were a total of 7 recipients inclusive of 2 new recipients, for the 2022/23 academic session.
GIFTING OF SOCIAL WELFARE ITEMS: It was another remembrance for the widows in the Umuekpe Ntigha Autonomous community, and others who benefited from the distribution of 50 pieces of the wrapper (semi-high target agbada) as social welfare empowerment. A gesture that aligned with the mood and needs to enhance clothing and dressing, symbolic of the festive period. Aside from food and shelter, clothing is also a necessity of life.
Thereafter, all and sundry were treated to refreshing snacks and drinks, and a sumptuous meal.
